The story of Château Clos de Sarpe

La propriété

A family tale

This property was initially owned by Baron du Foussat de Bogeron, then sold to Jean Beyney in 1923 ; whose son took over in 1950.  ; Today this family estate is run by Jean-Guy Beyney and his wife Christine, the third generation to make wine here with passion, focus and expertise,concerned with getting the best from this noble soil in the purest of traditions.

Château Clos de Sarpe is aldo an independent estate, people-oriented, generous and altruistic, founded on respect for the land and a permanent quest for perfection for the pleasure of all who love quality wines.

Small in size, low yields, old vines, traditional growing methods, aged in new wood…Jean-Guy Beyney’s traditional know-how produces a complex, very fruity, highly concentrated wine that respects nature and its rhythms. Vinified with passion and the greatest respect for tradition, Château Clos de Sarpe has few rivals in terms of concentration and longevity. The grand vintages maintain their freshness and purity over several decades.

In 1997, Jean-Guy Beyney decided to produce a second wine on the estate, Charles de Sarpe, today recognised for its elegance, flexibility and aromatic and warm finish.

Jean-guy Beyney

“At Château Clos de Sarpe, we believe wine is a living product that should be respected; it cannot be compared in any way with any industrial products.

We are aiming for a natural balance in wine;
time and patience do the rest.”

Jean-Guy Beyney
